My overall reflection on Drama class and implication in my future practice

The past six weeks has been a very fun and exciting time for me to learn about drama. I really enjoy every aspect of this class and I have learned so much as an educator. Before coming to this class, I have no exposure to drama, drama did not had a significant role in my education journey. In my cultural background, drama is not something that students can learn in public school, I got so used to find myself in the crowd and I was not comfortable showing myself in front of a big group of people. I made this post as I first exposed myself to the world of drama, I was very clueless and I was trying to reach out to drama.  I tried very hard, and I found myself enjoy learning everything about drama more and more over the courses.  In this class, I got the chance to learn from Dr.Winters, I love how passionated she was teaching a bunch of adults how to have fun like a bunch of kids. I was very lucky to learn from her.  I also got the chance to atte...

Drama Strategy 7: Teacher in Role

Teacher in role   is a method of teaching that utilizes techniques of   drama   to facilitate   education . It is a   holistic   teaching method designed to integrate   critical thought , examination of   emotion and   moral   values and factual data to broaden the learning experience and make it more relevant to   everyday life   situations. Teacher  in role with student on computer If the role of a  teacher  is to teach, the role of a  student  must be to learn. However, it has been agreed that learning is not only an exercise in reading and reciting facts, but in gaining a deeper insight of events and situations. This is where drama becomes an invaluable tool. Through the use of drama and  dramatic conventions  a teacher does not only teach and learn the "what" but also the "why" and "how". Drama techniques in education allows ...

Drama Strategy 6: Machine

Machine is a strategy for which students take on a “part” of a machine by moving their body in a repetitive, singular motion. Students join in one by one to create a collaborative “machine” or represent a concept together as a collective group. Machine will be used in class a way for students to recreate the tragedy of 9/11 with their bodies as a collective group. Each student will take on a role, whether it be a person, building or object, to create a machine which represents the events of 9/11. One student will start the machine, then one by one each student will examine the roles already taken by their peers and join in as their own part of the machine. Younger/Older students: Modifications can be made for differing grade levels to suit the abilities of students and the amount of instruction given (more instruction/guidance for younger students, more freedom to create for older students) Students with Learning Disabilities/Special Needs: Students will be provided with a ma...

Elements of Dance

In the Ontario Curriculum, The dance curriculum is intended to help students to develop an understanding and appreciation of dance, as well as the ability to create works using the elements and the choreographic forms of the discipline. Through exploring dance and movement, students will develop an understanding of the art form, themselves, and others, and will learn about the lives of people in different times, places, and cultures. They will develop practical artistic skills, critical analysis skills, and a variety of communication skills.  Dance can be used in a variety of classes, sometimes students tend to shy away from dancing in front of the group, it is necessary for teachers to show the students that dancing can be fun and dancing is not just more girls. Everyone can enjoy dance!

The convention can also be used to explore the thoughts of a character who is facing a difficult task or decision. In this case, the voices would give advice and warnings. See also voices in the head. Students standing arraignment is shown as: The class forms two lines facing each other. One person (the teacher or a participant) walks between the lines as each member of the group speaks their advice.
