Drama Strategy 1: Position Mapping

Position Mapping
As a teacher, have you ever wonder how would you use drama strategies in any diagnostics assessment?
Ever wonder how knowledgeable are your students about Math? Do they even like studying Math? Properly Not.

Position Mapping is a great acticity for students to do as any ice-breaking activity for any classes, it can be Language class, Math class or even Science class.

Simply put a chair in the middle of the classroom. And ask students to stand or do any position they want (get up and move, Kids!).

If they are really familiar with the subject, let's say that a student really like studying Math and is doing well in their previous Math class. Stand close to the chair and act cheerfully! :)

Like this

Stay as far away as he/she can and do a very sad or angry position if they just hate studying Math. :(

Wanna know how I position myself when reflecting my ability in doing Math?

I stay a bit far from the chair in the middle of the room and use this position to show that I am interested and willing to learn more Math.

How would you use Position Mapping in your own class?
